One argument against the chunin vs marineford directed at your supporting point.

Although yes the chunin is the the foundation for the development of the story the theme it presents end up being completely contradicted and thrown out the window. The theme being ” you do not need to be born into destiny to achieve greatness” then turns out Naruto and sauske were born into destiny and that “theme” was never brought up again because they threw it out the window. So in actuality the theming was garbage. But this does not deter from how foundational that arc is to the story!
