If there’s something id love to see, its arlong coming back, and getting a semi redemption arc. Id do some retconning though. Specifically, that he DOES care for nami, but he’s been building his reputation on hating humans, he can’t openly show it. Id wrap his redemption arc up by having him take a lethal blow to save nami.

The fact that Oda already had Arlong’s backstory in his head at the time but sat on it for a literal decade is insane.

I think it also helps that he’s also the first main villain TO actually care about his crew.
Aleta, Morgan, Buggy, Kuro, Crig.
None of them seem to care a bit about anyone that worked under them. And in fact, in most cases had no problem, using them as human shield or “collateral damage“
Arlong is the first main villain we’ve seen so far who is actually upset when his crew is harmed.

Arlong showing at least some genuine remorse and sadness at the loss of his crewmates paints such a different picture compared to Axe-Hand Morgan, Kuro and Krieg all treating their underlings like dirt.

It’s possible at least some of the fishmen Zoro killed were fishmen who were impacted by the Sun Pirates’ mission
